Chemistry and the Environment Are Best CollaboratedThe activities of chemistry and the environment are most closely linked together. Scientists have been working in this area for a long time. However, it is still very difficult to find a balance between both. Some people would suggest that the environment should be given equal time with science, but this idea has not been very popular.People are also constantly stressing the importance of research focus. This is in fact a fair argument. Science as an activity can only deal with some aspects of the environment. While this is a great idea, it is not true that all of the areas of chemistry should be given equal priority.We use different tools for different jobs. Of course, it is important to develop tools that will help us cope with a variety of environmental problems. Without this, we may be more frustrated than ever. Chemical and physical properties that are typical of the environment may not be very common in natural environments. It is not surprising that scientists tend to treat the environment as if it were one giant laboratory experiment.Another good reason to give equal emphasis to both is that they do not go together. Both science and the environment are physical sciences. In the laboratory, we must use tools, but it is still possible to work without the use of any of them. They are actually related to each other in many ways.One problem with regards to the environment is the ozone layer that exists on Earth's atmosphere. This layer acts as a shield that protects our planet from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. UV rays have a different wavelength. One type of UV ray is harmful to humans, but another is not.Because this type of ray is a threat to the quality of life, scientists have adopted a scientific method to solve this problem. This has been one of the major challenges in physics. Although the ozone layer is extremely fragile, scientists have a way to protect it.Chemistry and the environment are tw o aspects of science that share much in common. Both are methods of exploring the physical world. For example, some research groups may be dealing with the deterioration of the ozone layer, while others might be investigating the chemical processes that cause ozone depletion.Chemistry and the environment are simply two sides of the same coin. While it may seem like they are at odds with each other, they really are not. Scientists, researchers, and teachers should be able to discuss the issues effectively and see how they relate to one another.
